"The Uncanny Counter" Welcomes New And Returning Cast Members At 1st Script Reading For Season 2
tvN has shared photos from the first script reading of “The Uncanny Counter 2”!
Based on a webtoon, “The Uncanny Counter” is about demon hunters called “counters” who disguise themselves as employees of a noodle restaurant and hunt down demons who have come to Earth in pursuit of eternal life. During its run, the 2020 drama recorded the highest ratings in OCN history.
The upcoming season, titled “The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch,” will draw out the return of the “counters” who have now become stronger after acquiring new powers and members.
All the drama’s main leads—”The 5 Counters”— are set to return: Jo Byeong Gyu as So Moon, Yoo Joon Sang as Ga Mo Tak, Kim Sejeong as Do Ha Na, Yeom Hye Ran as Choo Mae Ok, and Ahn Suk Hwan as Choi Jang Mool. They will be joined by new cast members Jin Sun Kyu, Kang Ki Young, Kim Hieora, and Yoo In Soo.
At the cast’s first script reading for Season 2, producing director (PD) Yoo Seon Dong shared, “This feels new. Thank you to the counters and original staff for coming with me, and I warmly welcome our new actors and staff.” Yoo Joon Sang casually added, “Let’s go to Season 7 together.”
Once the script reading officially began, the set was brought to life with the exhilarating catharsis that’s unique to “The Uncanny Counter” series. In particular, the upgraded powers, enhanced team play, and banter between So Moon, Ga Mo Tak, Do Ha Na, Choo Mae Ok, and Choi Jang Mool will add tons of fun to the adrenaline-filled story.
More laughs and nerves were added by new actors Jin Sun Kyu, Kang Ki Young, Kim Hieora, and Yoo In Soo. Jin Sun Kyu plays Joo Seok, So Moon’s life saver and a passionate firefighter who stands on the fine line between good and evil. Kang Ki Young takes on the role of Pil Gwang, a predator who absorbs the counters’ powers.
Kim Hieora will portray Gelly, a character of pure evil who is unafraid to scratch, stab, cut, and kill. The final new face is Yoo In Soo as Jeok Bong, a newly recruited clumsy counter who is unfamiliar with everything.
The producers of tvN’s “The Uncanny Counter 2” commented, “A battle will unfold between the counters, who have become stronger after the recruitment of counters with new powers, and the demons, who have become more evil after absorbing the counters’ powers.”
They added, “We’ve added extravagant visuals and action sequences to the unique fun of Season 1, so please look forward to ‘The Uncanny Counter 2’ which will reach a maximum point of exhilaration with an enlarged scale and expanded universe from Season 1.”
Season 2 of “The Uncanny Counter” is set to premiere in the second half of the year.
